Day 2-Pigeon Forge ~ September 6
We are towing our Acura MDX SUV behind the motorhome. We have a brake assist system that helps brake the MDX when DH applies the brakes in the Motorhome. We left Harrisonburg KOA in VA at around 8 AM this morning. As we were driving, the darn brake assist in the MDX was malfunctioning. It was causing the motorhome to jerk when we came to a stop. Then when we started to drive the motorhome the assist in the MDX would brake hard and jerk us again. So once we got on I-81 South, DH pulled over on the shoulder and I walked back to the MDX and got in the passenger side. The tractor trailers were wising past me rocking the MDX. I am not a very flexible person so it took some doing for me to get into the driver side bucket seat to take the brake assist off the brake pedal. So now I am stuck upside down with the gear shifter hindering me from getting back out. I had to put it in park. Laughing didn't help either. Finally I got out and then got back into the seat sitting up so I could put the MDX gear shift down through all the gears stopping at N. Waited several minutes before turning it off. Climbed back out, shut door. Came back & double checked the emergency brake was off which it was. Got back in the motorhome and off we went. Stopped a few time for breaks. DH was hungry at 11:30 so we decided to stop at a Cracker Barrel on the way. MIL got this giant special consisting of pumpkin spice pancakes, sausages, scrambled eggs and grits. DH got scrambled eggs, potato casserole with country gravy and biscuits. And I got pecan pancakes with butter and maple syrup. DH wanted a hot tub so the only campground I found that had one in their advertising was in Pigeon Forge which is where Dollywood is. So we decided to camp there instead of Gatlinburg. Pigeon Forge is another Honky Tonk town with glitz, tourist traps galore, wax museums, amusements of all kinds. We arrived at the campground around 4 pm. After settled DH and I went to the hot tub, however I chose the pool which was refreshing while DH got in the hot tub with a group of guys. The ladies were all in the pool lol. I did finally get in the hot tub which was definitely hot. Came back to the motorhome and had pulled pork sandwiches with coleslaw. DH had an upset stomach and went out to the store to get some Mylanta.
DH told us that the strip we had driven through in the day light was even crazier in the dark much like the Vegas Strip. He said on top of all of the neon flashing lights there were people trying to cross the boulevard, and many of them were using walkers.
Tomorrow we hit Gatlinburg.
